Partners in Social Prosperity

MA-tek regards sustainable development and social co-prosperity as the cornerstone of its business operations, and this commitment is integrated into every aspect of its management, making relentless efforts in sustainable business practices. In response to the United Nations' "2030 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)" advocating for the three core issues of environment, society, and economy, MA-tek actively plans and implements its strategies. Currently, MA-tek's social participation strategy focuses on two main axes, aiming to become "a valued partner of universities" and "a co-prosperity partner of society," intending to engage in social development through its own professional technology and equipment. Through activities such as industry-academia cooperation at the "Valued Partner Center," charitable donations, support for diverse education, care for the disadvantaged, and promotion of Taiwanese agricultural products and cultural arts, multiple goals are realized, successfully implementing social welfare and working hand in hand with society for mutual benefit.

1. Charitable Donations

Christmas Charity Gift Recognition Ceremony

MA-tek has long been concerned about and supported public welfare. Since 2017, under the leadership of Chairman Hsieh Yong-Fen, the company has joined the fundraising efforts, encouraging employees and their families to voluntarily purchase Christmas wish gifts every year. These include Christmas wish cards and Christmas shoeboxes for children in remote areas, gathering many small contributions to create a larger impact, warming and inspiring underprivileged children who need care. In 2024, MA-tek specially invited the children from Lemon Tree Kindergarten to visit the company on December 12 to perform Christmas carols, not only delivering warm Christmas blessings to the colleagues but also hoping to become a strong support for the children's future growth and dream-building.

2. Support for Diverse Education

China Materials Science Society Competition Activities

MA-tek strongly sponsors the Taiwan Materials Science Microstructure Image Aesthetics Competition at the 2024 Annual Meeting of the Chinese Materials Research Society, hoping to capture materials science through visual imaging and interpret scientific images from an aesthetic perspective. It also encourages colleagues to participate in this event, where a total of 170 entries were submitted. In the "Social Group" finals, they stood out and won a gold award and two honorable mentions, with the gold award-winning piece "10 Nanometer Thumb" fully demonstrating MA-tek's leading breakthroughs in micro-nano technology.

Support for the 26th Wu Chien-Shiung Science Camp

Chairman Hsieh Yung-Fen has long been concerned about the cultivation of the next generation of scientific talent, firmly believing that science popularization education is the foundation for promoting sustainable technological development. She also serves as a director of the Wu Chien-Shiung Academic Foundation, consistently donating resources to support educational activities such as the Wu Chien-Shiung Science Camp. In 2024, MA-tek will donate NT$1 million to actively support the "26th Wu Chien-Shiung Science Camp," hoping to collaborate with many high school students across Taiwan who are passionate about science, encouraging them to bravely explore the infinite possibilities of science and to courageously pursue their dreams. Through this collaboration, we hope to bring more young students closer to science, inspire innovative thinking, and inject innovative possibilities into Taiwan's future technological development.

MA-tek Materials College

In 2024, MA-tek will further collaborate with the China Materials Society to establish the "MA-tek Materials Academy," which will periodically hold public seminars related to materials, educational training videos, and technical articles, providing customers with comprehensive technical and practical skills knowledge, assisting customers in grasping the latest trends in semiconductor materials, and promoting the dissemination of relevant knowledge through in-depth cooperation with the China Materials Society.

3. Caring for disadvantaged groups

For a long time, friends with visual impairments have faced difficulties in independent mobility, leading to restrictions in their daily life, learning, and interpersonal communication compared to those without visual impairments. Even in terms of self-actualization, they encounter various limitations and challenges. For disadvantaged friends, general social welfare mechanisms and facilities can only provide support in daily life, but they struggle to realize their self-worth. MA-tek believes that helping friends with visual impairments rebuild their confidence and dignity is a priority issue that should be emphasized. MA-tek actively responds to the care for disadvantaged groups by employing individuals with disabilities and hiring visually impaired personnel to provide massage services, offering more opportunities for disadvantaged groups to integrate into the social system, thereby realizing social value and enhancing self-affirmation. At the same time, it also provides company colleagues with a way to relieve stress, boosting their spirits through massage services to improve work efficiency.

Local Support

Taiwan's agriculture is thriving, earning the reputation of a fruit kingdom. However, many agricultural areas are often declining and facing operational difficulties due to factors such as population migration, aging population, and technological development. To support Taiwan's agriculture, MA-tek will continue to adopt four orange trees in the Zhongju Garden located in Emei Township, Hsinchu County, with an investment of NT$22,000 in 2024, producing approximately 458.3 Taiwanese catties annually. In addition to supporting farmers facing operational difficulties, MA-tek is also collaborating with the Hsinchu Family Support Center to donate the harvested oranges, continuously expanding MA-tek's social care and contributions.
