Stakeholder communication

MA-tek pursues sustainable business operations and values stakeholder feedback, communicating with various stakeholders through multiple channels to provide appropriate responses. MA-tek refers to the international standard AA1000 Stakeholder Engagement Standard (AA1000 SES) to identify its stakeholders. In 2024, MA-tek included laboratories in mainland China for stakeholder identification, identifying nine major stakeholders, including employees, customers, shareholders/investors, suppliers/contractors/partners, government agencies, community/non-profit organizations/non-governmental organizations, research institutions/academic units, media, and creditors/banks. Different methods are used for engagement based on stakeholder categories to understand the needs and expectations of each stakeholder, strengthen communication strategies and practical responses, and ensure the comprehensiveness and applicability of stakeholder identification and communication strategies, thereby incorporating the issues of concern into MA-tek's future development guidelines.

Identification of significant issues

In 2024, MA-tek will re-conduct the identification of significant issues, covering laboratories in Taiwan and Mainland China, following the latest guidelines released by the Global Reporting Initiative (GRI) in 2021. It will also reference domestic and international sustainability-related guidelines, significant issues from peer companies and customers, and select 21 sustainability issues closely related to MA-tek for the identification of significant issues. Based on the double materiality principle proposed by the European Union, the actual/potential and positive/negative impact levels will be used as consideration standards and dimensions. Subsequently, questionnaires will be filled out and surveys conducted among 9 categories of MA-tek stakeholders, including employees, customers, shareholders/investors, suppliers/contractors/partners, government agencies, communities/non-profit organizations/non-governmental organizations, research institutions/academic units, media, and creditors/banks, to assess the positive and negative impacts of each significant issue. Then, senior executives will evaluate the "degree of impact" and "probability of occurrence" for each sustainability issue, and based on the ranking results, 6 issues will be selected as MA-tek's significant sustainability issues for 2024.

In 2024, MA-tek conducted a reassessment of significant issues based on industry trends and stakeholder concerns, incorporating the perspectives of stakeholders from mainland laboratories for the first time to enhance the completeness of the assessment results. Ultimately, six significant issues were identified, including customer privacy, information security, employee compensation and benefits, customer relationships and development, waste and hazardous substance management, and the quality of technical services, which are considered the major issues for MA-tek this year. The company looks forward to continuously strengthening communication with stakeholders, enhancing information transparency, and improving disclosure quality.
