Industry-Academia Collaboration | MA-tek 114 Annual Project Kick-off Exchange Meeting Successfully Held

The 114th Industry-Academia Cooperation Initial Exchange Meeting was successfully held on October 9 (Thursday) afternoon at MA-tek's SOC headquarters. This year, the MA-tek Industry-Academia Cooperation Program has officially entered its fifth phase. Since 2021, MA-tek has invested NT$20 million annually to promote industry-academia cooperation, continuously supporting 20 innovative research projects focused on high-tech product development, manufacturing, packaging, and systems. Utilizing the most advanced analysis and testing technologies, it assists academia in overcoming R&D bottlenecks and accelerating industrial upgrades. This year's program accepted applications from May 7 to June 18, with the execution period from August 1, 2025, to July 31, 2026.
 
The initial exchange meeting aimed to promote interaction among the selected cooperating professors and assist them in establishing connections with the technical teams at MA-tek responsible for executing and managing various testing projects. A laboratory tour was also arranged after the meeting, allowing participants to personally understand MA-tek's advanced equipment and analytical techniques, further enhancing the execution efficiency and quality of collaborative research.
 

 

The event began with a presentation by the Director of the R&D Center, Chen Hongren, who detailed the selection criteria and execution methods of this year's collaboration program. The selection rate for this program is approximately 38%, with the top three universities in terms of application numbers remaining the same as last year: National Yang Ming Chiao Tung University, National Tsing Hua University, and National Cheng Kung University. Notably, professors applying for the first time account for 51% of the total applications, indicating that MA-tek's industry-academia cooperation program continues to attract more new research teams.

 

This year's application themes span cutting-edge technology fields such as semiconductor materials, advanced components and processes, quantum computing, silicon photonics, 6G communication, new energy, space radiation, memory, sensors, secure chips, high-entropy materials, nanomedicine (K-kit), and artificial intelligence, showcasing the diverse innovative energy of the domestic academic community. Notably, in response to global trends in green energy and sustainable development, the number of applications in the "new energy" field has significantly increased, making it one of the most prioritized research topics alongside "advanced materials and packaging."

Director Chen also specifically urged during the presentation that professors actively support MA-tek's technical article invitations and MAFT seminar speeches during the execution of the program, allowing more industry professionals to enhance their learning and grasp new interdisciplinary technological knowledge. MA-tek has diverse marketing and knowledge-sharing channels, including its official website, newsletters, social media, external professional magazines, as well as its independently built "MA-tek Member APP" and "MA-tek Materials Academy." Among them, the MA-tek Materials Academy is a knowledge-sharing platform that MA-tek has specially created in collaboration with the Chinese Materials Research Society this year, dedicated to assisting clients and experts in mastering the latest technological trends and expanding interdisciplinary professional knowledge and applications.

 

Subsequently, Zhang Chuan-Jun, Deputy Director of the Reliability Engineering Division, and Ge Yu-Feng, Deputy Director of the R&D Center, introduced the company's development overview and the latest advanced analytical equipment and technologies, allowing the attending professors and students to gain an in-depth understanding of MA-tek's strong R&D capabilities, laying a solid foundation for future cooperation.

 

Looking to the future, MA-tek will continue to focus on seven forward-looking fields: artificial intelligence, silicon photonics, electric vehicles, secure chips, low-orbit satellites, green energy and environmental protection, and nano-biomedicine. The company views industry-academia cooperation as an important strategy for promoting sustainable development. Through resource support and sharing of professional technology, it aims to assist more outstanding teams in accelerating breakthrough research, promoting the transformation of innovative results, and actively facilitating paper publications, patent layouts, and industry linkages, thereby creating higher industrial value and market influence.
